St John the Baptist Church

St John the Baptist is a friendly Anglican church with a heart to serve God in the local community. The Church is not an ancient church, in the mid-1890s the squire of Shiphay, William Henry Kitson, decided to provide a chapel/school, which would serve the village children during the week and be used as a chapel on Sundays.

St John the Baptist, Shiphay Collaton believe that church isn't just for Sunday, and a legacy gift of £10,000 was exactly what the church needed to create a New Hospitality area in the church, where there had previously been no catering facilities.

The new Hospitality Area now enables the church to run a range of mission and outreach activities (bacon rolls included!) and to support other Community events and Christian groups meeting throughout the week.

Growing in friendship and in faith

St John the Baptist

The new Hospitality Area provides regular opportunities to meet and chat in a small group setting, to explore and deepen personal faith through Bible study, lively discussions and social get togethers.

From Youth Groups to Healing Ministries, House Groups and the newly formed Men’s Group: all are able to benefit from the new facilities and communal area.

Meeting in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, parishioners have the opportunity to grow in friendship and faith.
